ABOUT BALUT

A Small Step Towards Keeping Our Villages Alive

India's villages have always been home to extraordinary skills.

Generations of artisans have learned to create, craft and preserve things using knowledge passed from one generation to another.

But many of these traditions are slowly disappearing — not because they have lost their beauty, but because the people who create them often don't have access to the right markets.

Balut was created to change that.

Tradition for Tomorrow

Taking the wisdom and skills of our villages forward and connecting them with today's India.

The Hands That Make → The Homes That Value

We believe that a village artisan should not have to leave their village to find value for their skill.

We want to create a bridge between the hands that make and the homes that value.

Balut brings authentic rural products directly to people who appreciate tradition, craftsmanship and the story behind what they buy.

Why the name 'BALUT'?

Balut — born from the tradition of Balutedar

For generations, the villages of Maharashtra had a unique social and economic tradition known as the Balutedar system.

The Balutedar tradition, traditionally associated with the twelve Balutedars of Maharashtra, brought together skilled village communities whose work supported everyday village life.

From Balutedar to Balut

Balut is our name inspired by Balutedar.

We chose the name to remember a time when:

A village knew the person who made its products.

The maker knew the people who used them.

And craftsmanship was part of everyday life.

Today, the world has changed. Mass production and modern marketplaces have made many traditional products easier to find — but at the same time, many rural crafts and traditional skills are slowly disappearing.

Balut wants to build that connection again.

Not by going backwards.
But by taking the wisdom of our villages forward.

From the hands of the Balutedar to the homes of today.

Balut connects rural artisans and traditional makers with today's customers.

We want to give these skilled people a wider marketplace while helping preserve the craft, culture and traditions that have been part of Indian village life for generations.

Every Balut Product Has Three Stories

01

The Story of the Maker

The person whose hands created it.

02

The Story of the Village

The place, culture and traditions behind it.

03

The Story of the Product

The skill and knowledge passed through generations.

When you buy from Balut, you become part of that story.
BALUT HERITAGE

Balut is not just a marketplace.

It is a bridge between our villages and the modern world.

Between tradition and tomorrow.

Between the hands that make and the people who value them.

Inspired by the Balutedar tradition. Built for today's India.

Balut — From our villages. Made by our people.

Authenticity over mass production.

We don't want Balut to become just another online marketplace.
We want every product to have a connection to:

Its maker.

Its village.

Its tradition.

We will always try to tell you:

Who made it.
Where it came from.
How it was made.
And why it matters.

When you bring Balut home...

You don't just bring something made by hand.
You bring home a little piece of someone's:

Tradition.
Hard work.
Hope.
